On the journal this week we thought we’d share some of our favourite items for creating that aesthetically pleasing yet practical boot room or entryway in your home. Summer is all about outdoor adventures, especially in The Cotswolds, and creating the perfect space that muddy shoes and rain jackets can call home is essential throughout the whole year.

Clockwise from top left:

Cotswold Company, Farmhouse Painted Corner Bench

No boot room is complete without somewhere to get ready and sit down to take off those outdoor layers. We love this practical bench from Cotswold Company which fits snugly into any corner and has woven baskets to stow away shoes and boots and a storage cube under each seat, perfect for hiding away smaller items and knick-knacks such as gloves, boot socks and scarves.

Cotswold Trading, Door Mats

Cotswold Trading have a beautiful collection of coconut coir door mats, perfect for brushing off mud before entering your home. All in neutral design, you can add some fun with their animal doormats or keep it simple and chic with their more subtle designs.

Maine Furniture, Hat and Coat Hook Shelf

Store and display your winter coats or lightweight summer layers with heavy duty hat and coat hooks. This gorgeous hook shelf from Maine Furniture has strong books in a pewter finish, set over a Cotswold stone-coloured wooden board. Practical and pretty, it’s so much more than a coat rack and adds a splash of traditional, country charm to any entryway.

The Oxford Brush Company, Boot Brush

If outdoor adventures in nature throughout the year are your kind of thing, then a brush to keep your boots (and floors) spotless between walks is just what you need! This beechwood and tough, union fibre brush from Oxford Brush Company sweeps away dirt and mud to clean walking boots, gardening boots, wellies, even pushchair wheels and rollators.

Burford Garden Co, Oak Welly Boot Racks

Made right here in The Cotswolds, this boot rack is just what you need to keep wellies and boots neat and tidy in the hallway. Well-made from sturdy polished oak, they possess an aesthetically pleasing simplicity that allows them to effortlessly fit in wherever you place them.

Cotswold Grey, Sideboard

The entryway is one of the most practical areas in the home, so a beautiful sideboard is essential for storing those every day items you grab when leaving the house. From keys to shopping bags and face masks, these items can often made an entryway look messy or cluttered by can be neatly stored away in this handmade and lightly distressed sideboard from Cotswolds Grey. Its style is inspired by the travels of entrepreneur and vagabond Rudy Van Thiel so maybe it will inspire a sense of adventure as you leave the home!
