With its quintessential English towns and villages, The Cotswolds is the perfect place to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next week. Whether you’ve already booked a long weekend away in the rolling hills or you’re a Cotswolds resident looking to join in some community celebrations, we’ve narrowed down the best events in The Cotswolds from street parties and afternoon teas in the park to pool parties.

Tetbury Picnic in the Rec
5th June

A truly British affair in the area home to Highgrove Estate where HRH Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall live, the Recreation Ground in Tetbury are hosting afternoon tea while you sit back and enjoy music from the Queen’s reign. A real community event to celebrate Tetbury too, there will be demonstrations throughout the afternoon from a wide range of community groups as well as stalls to support local artisans and businesses. The Tetbury picnic is a ticketed event costing £2 per person or £5 for a family of 4, so make sure you book your place in advance by contacting hello@tetburycc.co.uk.

Gloucester Tall Ships and Docks Celebrations
3rd - 5th June

For a weekend full of royal and water-themed festivities, think pirate puppet shows, ship making workshops and land yacht racing while surrounded by the regal vessels, head down to Gloucester Docks. From Friday to Sunday, the area will be packed with performers and street entertainers, fantastic traders and maritime entertainment.

On top of these, The Canal & River trust will be putting boat trips, paddle boards and canoe hire will be available throughout the weekend as well as opportunities to hop on a skippered trip around the docks from Gloucester Boat Hire.

The celebrations are free to attend and everyone is welcome, if you want to hop aboard the 6 Tall Ships moored up throughout the weekend, then you’ll want to book a boarding pass online.

Jubilee Jolly at Sandford Park, Cheltenham
5th June

For a festival atmosphere, skip over to Sandford Park for a whole day of live music, a dog show and lots of food and drink!

If you don’t fancy prepping lots of picnic food for the big lunch on the 5th June, the Jubilee Jolly is part food festival with plenty of stands to pick up delicious eats throughout the day. What makes this event Jubilee themed? A royal fancy dress parade of course, filled with Kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses and even Knights. Plus a stand to create your own crown ensures there will be plenty of regality to the day.

Bank holiday weekend celebrations in Broadway

For perhaps the biggest celebrations within The Cotswolds, head to Broadway! From the 2nd-5th June, the Traveling Fair have set up shop in Broadway and you can browse trade stalls and catch performances over the whole bank holiday weekend. On top of this, highlights include, catching the parade, participating in the biggest picnic Broadway has ever seen, open air screenings of the Jubilee festivities and so much more.

Don’t miss the main event on the 5th June, The Big Broadway Jubilee Lunch will take to the streets with a lunch fit for the Queen. Take the opportunity to pull up a table or party on Broadway’s High Street! There will be plenty of space all along the high street for to bring your own garden or dining tables, decorate them and add your own table to the long table along the high street! The street will be closed all day, meaning you have plenty of time to party and celebrate.

High Tea in The Park - Shipton Under Wynchwood
5th June

The Jubilee is a perfect excuse for high tea and Shipton-Under-Wynchwood parish are inviting local residents to gather and celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee with live music and dancing.

Food and drinks on the day include cream tea, ice cream, crepes and a truly British summer favourite, Pimms! All those joining in the celebration are welcome to bring their own food too and if you don’t have your own outdoor furniture, some table seating is available and can be reserved in advance.

Jubilee Fun Day at the pool - Cirencester

Dive into Jubilee celebrations at Cirencester open air swimming pool! On the 5th June, pick out your best red, white and blue swimwear or poolside fashion and join in the very summer themed celebrations. There will be a Tombola and water games organised by the Lifeguards as well as opportunities to enjoy normal swimming in the beautifully heated pool.
