Horseshoe Art

Horseshoe art in Gloucestershire is made up of artists Emma and Hayden. Emma’s work is influenced by her textile and pattern making training and she uses a variety of media to produce stylised and quirky paintings. The patchwork Cotswold landscape, grasses, wild flowers, rivers and streams are sketched on location and then reworked in the studio, layering oils, acrylic, watercolour and ink that gives her work a pattern-like style.

Hayden's first love is the beautiful Gloucestershire landscape in every season. His style is an accurate depiction of atmosphere, light and depth and he travels the county and beyond, sketching and painting from life using oils in response to the architecture, coast and landscape.

Hamish Mackie is a self-taught British wildlife sculptor whose work is inspired by his privileged close-up moments of observing wildlife across many corners of the world at first hand.

This close observation, which often involving intense research trips and sculpting from life in the field, informs Hamish’s whole approach. Sculpting through spontaneous, often unrepeatable, fluid gestures from his Oxford studio, his bronze wildlife sculptures capture instinctive moments of animal behaviour.
